It doesn't happen very often, so when it does snow in Georgia, it's a really big deal. Schools and businesses shut down, grocery stores have empty shelves, and people from up North constantly complain about how Southerners can't drive in the snow.
As you can see from the pictures (taken in the Metro Atlanta area), the ground wasn't even completely covered, but it was still a big deal. People were out making snowmen, throwing snowballs, etc. We have to enjoy it while it lasts, which isn't very long. The snow from yesterday is already gone today except in a few shady spots, and by later in the week it's supposed to be almost 70 degrees.
They received even more snow in Perry where the National site is. We're hoping for beautiful weather in April, though. The average high temp in Perry in April is 78 degrees and the average low is 48 degrees.
